Named in honour of the late Fred Mitchell (former Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mitchell's Gourmet Foods), it is one of the most photographed gardens for weddings and special occasions in all of Saskatchewan. A bronze statue of Fred Mitchell was commissioned from local artist Hans Holtkamp and is central to the character of the park. “We are responsible for planting, maintaining, and decorating the Fred Mitchell Memorial Garden on a year round basis, a responsibility we take very seriously”, said Stu Irvine, President and Chief Operating Officer. “We want the beauty and tranquility of this special place to stand as a permanent tribute to Fred Mitchell and the contribution he made to his family, his company, his employees, and our city”. |
